    Don't
The suspension is about the same as the TW.
My friend had one, brand new and got rid of it after 6 months.

I've rode dirt bikes my whole life yet I prefer the tw's suspension? I only weight 140 that might be why I like the softness. What's wrong with the tw suspension? (Post #100!!!!)

I owned 2 DT's in my younger years. They are pretty mellow for 2-strokers. Not a peaky, but also not as much umph. (almost TWish) But here is the deal with that bike. DT's were dual sport machines. That poor beast has been striped. It should have lights, turn signals, separate speedo and tach with integrated warning lights, horn, and depending on year even a starter. (my 125 did but it never worked). Working examples of those parts might be tough to find and expensive if you do. Likely not worth trying to make it street legal again. As a dirt bike they were only so-so, under powered and heavy. The TT's and better yet the IT's of that era were great dirt bikes. I ate plenty dirt from my neighbor's IT200 trying to keep up on my DT175.

My friend went from the DT250 to the IT175. The ITs were nice bikes, but designed to be off road only. Back then you could license them for the road.

Will, the TW has very short and soft suspension. It is ok for trail plodding, but it will bottom out if you push. I love the bike for trail exploring, but my long legged WR will eat up most obstacles at high speed and is more suited for faster, rougher trails.

I want to use it as a explorer when I ride with my quad friends at the lake. Mostly old logging roads. I keep the tw in town for the most part. I also want it so i have a bike that my friends or father can ride when I do go out trail riding on the tw. As for it being road legal, I didn't even know it was. The IT's are amazing bikes. But I've only seen beat ones for sale where I live and they are always $1000+.. Do you guys think this bike is even worth paying $250? It's a minor gamble and I think I can resell it running for $500

I'd say no - (we had them over here for years)

If you intend to do up a bike, then find one that's worthy of it ...............

I think the DT would not be as rewarding as your TW; or an IT or YZ of older vintage, something with some eye-opening power. I could not readily find ignition part prices and availability for the DT just now so I reluctantly advise waiting for something more turn-key ridable and desirable.
