Honda CB250 Nighthawk *boring post alert*

I acquired a "barn find" 2002 Honda Nighthawk with 2800 miles for well under a $1k. I had to rebuild the carb , as it's been sitting since 2010 or so. Otherwise, it's nice bike; very quiet and has a 4 gallon fuel tank. I like it, but it's not going to replace my TW in any way. It has this weird (to me) tendency when making a slow turn, the handlebars want to turn in more, not a neutral feel. It's not evident at higher speeds. Tire pressures are correct, so maybe that's just how it is.

It will be my daughter's to ride and it's nice to have a training/DMV road test bike in the fleet.

Probably needs new steering bearings. My DR650 was like that til I put fresh bearings in it.

    I agree with Rob.

Also make sure the front brake isn't dragging.

There;s a difference in the angle between the CB400 and the CB250 - otherwise identical bikes - the 250 was a pussycat, but the 400 could high side you

    They didn't a;ways get it right .......

Honda CB250 Nighthawk *boring post alert*

I had a CB250 Nighthawk and got rid of it recently. It had that oversteering tendency as described by the OP.
It is a twin cylinder, but both go up and down at the same time, so it vibrates more than the TW200.
    Parts are available.
Front tire is a very particular size and very hard to find a substitute. The front tire is a huge factor on the oversteering problem. Keep to exactly the same size as mandated by Honda.
Improvements: Add a rack and a stand, both available.

And yes, it highsided me going 15 mph. I got a cracked shoulder and asphalt rash out of it.

In comparison to the TW200, the TW is a better bike for the street than the Nighthawk.

It's suppose to rain around here tomorrow so I'll delve into the steering bearings. As for the brake, the cable was rusted and stiff so I had already worked on that prior to road (rode?) testing.

Went riding with my daughter this morning and she's happy with it so I'm happy with it!
