Welcome to my world .... project bike builds inside.

    Hey Guys & Gals,

I am about to pick up my first T-dub in a few weeks and am a really excited to start building a small displacement ADV bike.

I have built a few bikes over the years and figured I would toss up a thread. I have been away from building bikes for the last year and a half and working on a VW Westfalia restoration ... but as that finally approaches it's end I will be diving into the TW project.

Here are a few pics of my other bikes and builds that have consumed my long eastern canadian winters for the past five years.

2002 CB919 .... this one is my baby and will never be sold. RC51 fork conversion, CBR954 caliper, low mount exhaust, six spoke enkei wheels, black out powder coat, Koso cluster, cb599 headlight and buell windscreen. The list for this one is long and it will always be in a state of evolution.

1983 CBX550 ..... retro cafe build. This one was for my father as a retirement gift.

2001 XR650L ..... full engine rebuild, lip battery, FCR carb off a CRF450, XR600R plastics with a retro Scott Summers GNCC theme. Sold.

1986 BW200 .... full frame up restore. This was my T-dub gateway drug and it ignited my desire to have a TW200 some day. Sold.

I couldnt keep them all, but enjoy building bikes as much as riding them so I dont get too upset when they go to a new home.

I am loving the TW200 forum so far and look forward to hanging out and starting up a TW build thread when the time is right.

    Cheers,
    Ian

The westy isn't quite finished yet. But its been a long road and its getting close to the finish line.

It started out as a neglected and left for dead 1981 aircooled vanagon westfalia. I stripped it to a bare shell and restored the body first .... which took two years. Lol.

This winter I dug into the mechanical stuff. Swapped in a watercooled Subaru EJ25 engine from a 2001 Outback, hand built ECU wiring harness, custom built cooling system, new brakes/bearings/hard lines/fuel system, suspension, wheels/tires/spacers etc.

I still have to refinish the doors and poptop and reinstall the glass/dash ..... when its all done and sitting pretty i'll be sure to post up some pics.

    Cheers,
    Ian

You have serious skills. I'm very envious. Rock that TW build like you did the rest of them.

Oh I got some plans and parts already on order for this project.

Now if someone could find me a link to the TTR/XT 6-speed trans swap & TTR/XT cylinder/piston swap .... I could really start planning.
