Love it. My daughter learned to ride on a Yamaha TY80. Loads of bullet proof fun.

Yeah, fun buying for the kids. My Grandaughter is 7 so she's raring to go. Meanwhile I'm keeping an eye out for another....next 2 Grandsons are cousins...only 10 days apart and those guys are a wrecking crew...they're just 4 and would need training wheels so I'll make them wait a while. My little guy is 2...he's the motorhead, he'll ride anything....he won't be far behind the other guys.
I'm looking forward to a few years of fun...its too bad we don't have better riding areas around here for the kids...you really need a plate for most of our riding.

That bike is a 2006 ...price was right and I couldn't pass it up...it still looks pretty good....a lot of the used kids bikes are beat to shit.

It's probably a good choice. I don't know, because I learned to ride at age 27...and I have no kids.

...no, that's not true. I never owned one; but the thing to have when I was about ten years old, was a MINIBIKE.

Remember them? Just today I came across a blurb for a recreation of the old Rupp minibike...now sold by Coleman. Made in China, almost certainly. Doesn't really matter...if they welded it right, it will be dang near indestructible.

Top speed, 25. As simple as an anvil; and if that Chinese engine goes to Hades, you can pop an old Briggs engine in there.

    First Day Riding...

That's my granddaughter, Juliette, 7 years old. She did great! Couple of crashes, but she hopped right back on.

Can't overstate how cool that is Rhodetrip.
And good for you that you not only got to be there to have the fun doing it with her, but that you're also the one that opened the door to that world and provided the equipment for her.

Great story Rtrip! Your Grandkids will always remember the good times with you....

Growing up, living with my Grandma we were so poor I did not even have a bike, nor did we have a car or TV. I was offered a paper route if I could get a bike, I was about 10 years old.. . Went down to the Schwinn bike shop, hung out and the owner sold me a bike on time so I could have a route. So there was no Mcycles in my life, no car. I was 14, found an old 1946 International pickup sitting in a field. I asked the owner if the truck ran and he said that it did the last time he ran it... He wanted $40... I was working the Apple, Cherry, Berry fields and was making a bit of money to help support our life so I bought that Pickup. Then I found other jobs cleaning up barns and hauling trash for folks. Finally I got a job at a Gas station and off I went!

When I see families doing things together I think how lucky they are... We raised our boys to value work and they both have great lives..... Wife and I have had a great life too.
