I've been joking about this for years, ever since electrics started being talked about, and people bitching about it, me included. Now I hear at least one aftermarket company is doing it!
It's an electronic device that can produce, amplify and modulate various internal combustion sounds through hidden external speakers.
It can simulate a big-bore V-8 with "pipes", running through the gears of a 5/6 speed box, chirping the tires, or a full-bore burn out!
Versions with other engine type sounds can't be far behind.

For my T-Dub I want the big-bore, blown, alky-burning, NOS-boosted, Harley Dee top fuel drag-bike version.
Then go down on 6th St. in Amarillo, pull up in amongst 'em at a Harley bar, and shatter all their headlight bulbs!

Wish I could get exclusive distribution rights. I'd make a fortune...if the Harley Bros hadn't killed me first!
You know that BMW had to do this to the inside of some of their cars? The cars were so quite on the inside the drivers could not here the engine when they punched it. BMW created engine sounds that played through the speakers to give the drivers a sense of the engine working.

The electrics will have to do it on the outside. Really for the safety of others. I would tune mine to sound idle like a Harley at idle, accelerate like a RD350, and down-shift like a Kenworth with a jake-brake. LOL

    Excellent analogy Mike.

Does anyone out there drive an electric vehicle? Just curious what the cost would be using EV charging stations to travel vs a gasoline powered vehicle.

    Tiny bear well said.

All the guys talking about noise protecting them really?

With 5 g on the way pretty soon all vehicles will be interconnected. They will be able to move on the road ways like a hive. Anyone seen the YouTube videos of drones flying in mass like schools of fish or birds in groups. Could there be technical glitches or hacks likely but safety will go up exponentially. Of course the “driving experience will cease you will be transported from place to place. Never less I am sure you’ll still see person operated vehicles for recreation.

Little Tommy great story and awesome to see you hanging out.

If anyone has read my other posts about electric stuff knows I am a big proponent. And yes the battery tech is on the way. The “solid state lithium” will be 4 times energy dense and have the ability for quick charge. And this is only one promising battery tech. As these techs get ramped up the price will drop and the cost will be competitive. Compare it to the evolution of computer memory etc.

But I am excited about electric bikes and cars. Range is constantly improving as is quicker and quicker charge times. Within my life time I feel an electric will be far far superior to the ICE of today.

Electric is simpler, lower maintenance, fewer moving parts and offers better power and insane torque. Honestly once range charge times, and cost approach that of the ICE powered bikes there will be little to no reason to truly opt for a ice powered machine.

I have wanted a zero FX as a commuter for a while and if I had the $$$$ I might have even pulled the trigger on one but until I do I will continue to keep watching in anticipation of the great strides in electric advancements in anticipation of there future dominance.

Oh and this is from a guy who make a living as a diesel mechanic. I love gasoline and diesel and will always enjoy tinkering with such. But to refuse facts of advantages of electric would be limiting and closed minded.

I think the ICE powered stuff will continue to be enjoyed long into the future much like the horses are enjoyed today despite being replaced in main stream by the ICE many many years ago.

All posts interesting, I wonder what is going to happen when these bikes have run out of manufacturers warranty ? and they start to encounter issues with the electric high power side ?
I don’t know how much electrical output these bikes put out as in regarding amps/ volts , but I do know that the average , European car ev ( electric vehicle ) output is 300-800 volts and that will kill you if it’s not made safe before working on them ? Another thing to consider also is that electric vehicles have capacitors that also need to be discharged before working on them .
The electric vehicle/ hybrid technology is here , but working on these requires the use of insulated tools ( not cheap, as they are iso rated safe to use)
i would imagine most people will have to have these repaired by auth,d electric techs as the cost of tools and safety out ways being “ fried”
The other thing to consider is the re sale value ? ( battery packs) we all know that battery hand tools are good but when the battery fails it’s often cheaper to renew unit and battery ! another thing to consider is are the bikes going to have same ev plug in charge ports as cars do ??? there are so many cons compared to pros especially for bikes at moment, but time will tell ! My view at this time is that for what it would cost to buy a electric bike I could buy a lot of fuel for my ICE vehicles , so are they really cost effective?
