    12V Powerlet Mod.

    Spent the rainy morning installing a powerlet mod, while it's not difficult, thought I'd share what I did for those of you thinking about it. I reduced the size of the pics, just for bandwidth/space reasons, if they are too small I'll upload the larger versions.

    So I ordered this with the 48" extended cord

    This is the retaining clip that comes with it, but there is an inherent design flaw.....

    If you to push a 12v adapter in, the receptacle would slide out the bottom...will deal with that later...

    Removed the Jimbo and headlight cowling...decided on the right side, which should provided some level of protection from rain and such...

    Remove the 2 screws at either corner, very easy to remove, don't over-torque when putting them back in....You can see the wiring go through the rubber insulation, but it falls right out...

    Drilled the 2 holes, after marking the spots I started with smaller bits up the to the size I needed so I wouldn't wreck the plastic... 3/32 > 1/8 > 5/32

    I bought 2 different screws not totally sure which would be better, one was 8mm long the other 10mm...ended up using the 10mm. You could go to 12mm and still have just enough clearance. I could have sworn I bought 4mm hex head but apparently they were 3mm hex head

    Tank, seat and side fairings removed. This is where I spent a crazy amount of time trying to figure out the best route, mainly at the front of the bike for the power connection to make sure I could also use if for either a battery tender or compressor. Slightly OCD when it comes to wiring...

    Take a close look here, I found the white wire to the left pinched against the rectifier....

    But I had to deal with the issue of the plug sliding out. I added velcro, but it didn't turn out exactly as planned. The plug does not fully seat, even with the velcro, it will peel out on an angle. Plan on adding a tie wrap around the body after a slight mod to the mount.

    The only problem I see is there is no dirt on that bike.

    Same place I mounted mine. Basically the same way, nuts and bolts.

    Sits under the faring like it belongs there.
