    Takasago rim option

Hey all, been absent a few years with other projects.

Not sure this has been discussed already but I brought up the subject in 2012. https://tw200forum.com/forum/performa...e-3-print.html about the 36 spoke rear wheel option for our TW's...Well I can say the eagle has finally landed. High quality Takasago 36 spoke rims can finally be purchased state side. Suzuki 65311-13G00 - RIM, REAR WHEEL (14M/CXMT4.50 : MRCycles $187.63

Rear Van Van Rim Info: It is manufactured in Japan by Takasago (Excel)
    RK EXCEL j14m/cxmt 4.50DOT 1008
    Suzuki part 65311-13G00
Looks like Dunlop K180 was original equipment tire (I think they used these high quality Dunlops for Speedway and dirt track racing)

    Why 36 spokes?
Well for one it's stronger, and may help keep the rear wheel true.
But more importantly it could open up more custom/alternative rear hub options.
I believe the van hub is alloy Suzuki 64110-13G00 - HUB, REAR WHEEL : MRCycles so maybe that could be adapted?

and the tire looks like a k180

Finally we have a different option than the D.I.D rim

It is not talking about rims but yes, time gave us more choices. Dunlop K180 is available from Suzuki parts dealer now. I just got front and rear tire set.

OK, The K180 used to be a dirt track tire, now they renamed the competition version to the DT3

DT3 only comes in 19" sizes
K180 only comes in TW/Vanvan sizes.

I saw a build where a guy adapted TW wheels to a GS650 including the rear drum brake for the very reason that the Beemer had 36 spokes. I replied that I thought the Van Van had 36 spokes so he could have used his original brakes and hubs. That thread seemed to die after that.

The part wasn't available in 2015....he would have had to order it from Europe. Now it's available at nearest parts counter. XTW600 cush drive I will make.

Will also make a cheap alternative to buying supermoto wheels for alot of bikes. Not quite supermoto but the 203 204 are pretty awesome road tires.
