I just got a SKB case to mount on my rear Cyclerack, and don't see how to mount it besides drilling holes in it and bolting it to the rack. Has anyone here solved the problem without ruining the watertight property of your case? I'd be interested in solutions for a Pelican or similar case, not just the SKB.

    Thanks in advance,

I use fender washers, rubber washers, and silicon sealant in the hole before shoving the bolt through.

Fender washers for strength, rubber washers for vibration dampening, and the silicon to keep the weather out.

I cut a board that mounts to my cycler rack with the little metal straps that are used to hold pipes to a wall. I put some rubber tape on the straps to protect the rack and put them under the board and against the rack. I bought some very strong velcro and put loops on the cycler rack to hold my elastic cargo net. I can put my pelican case on the board with the net on top. If the case were to come off then the accident probably killed me and I won't miss it. A nice thing about the board (which I copied off the old site) is I just mounted a red turn signal off my dad's old five window pickup behind that hoop at the back of the rack and put one of those diode replacement bulbs in it which adds visability and lets me take my dads memory with me when I ride. I also have two small holes in the board and when I need more room I put the smaller wal mart action packer on and hold it with two all threads and two bolts each.

My Halaburton case is water proof until I drilled holes for mounting it in the bottom. Since the holes are in the bottom the chance of much water going in is miniscule and when it does, it should drain out if the bike is level. Seriously, I've had not moisture enter the installation and for that matter no dust to speak of. Rubber gaskets, silicone goo, and a bottom liner should do the job unless you try to ford a deep river. Tom
