    My bars came today. I'm not sure I'd want to trim them of course it'd be impossible for me to decide until I had them on the bike and really tried them out, but I found myself wondering if anyone has and if so, why?

    Edit: Found these;

    I guess I should have searched for "cut" and not "trim."

    Both my TW and my DR650 have ATV Hi bars. Standard diameter on the TW and taper on the DR. They felt right to me untrimmed, so I left them alone. It is a personal thing, though. Whatever you prefer.

    Untrimmed gives more leverage, but trimmed fits between tree trunks better.

    No need to trim unless you run in really tight woods. I really like having the bars a little wider. It allowed me to put longer grips on without have to cut them. I love the pro grips!

    I trimmed mine, probably wouldn't bother if I did it again.

    Congrats on the new bars!

    I agree that it's just personal preference. I have the same bars and I did trim them. I'm used to shorties on my MX bikes so it was a more natural feel for me to chop them down. I also bought the ATV-High for the purpose of a more upright position. By trimming the bars, bringing my hands closer together, I increased that upright position while keeping the bars in a more vertical orientation. That's what I told myself as I grabbed my sawzall.

    I also added the ProGrip DualSport 714 grips. Perhaps just a hair long on the throttle side and I always seem to use just a tad too much dish soap for installation. Sorry to get off topic but they are really nice.

    OK, thank you all for the feedback. I appreciate it. It looks like they're just an inch wider. So far I haven't found any trails up here where I have to worry about trees reaching out and grabbing me. I may like the narrower feel though... Well, I'll leave them for now and if they bother me I guess it is easier to trim an inch than it would be to add an inch
