Do it with microsquirt/megasquirt, and tune it from your phone:

as i recall... lizrdbrth was working on doing the ton on a stripped down, modified t-dub.

i've little doubt he would have been successful.

I didn't realize that's actually compatible with the Vanvan's controller. Interesting

I highly doubt it is, that was the "do it with microsquirt/megasquirt" part. You probably wouldn't be tuning a VV ECU in any way unless you're familiar with reverse engineering low level systems like that. The microsquirt/megasquirt is an open source ECU that can run everything from your weed wacker to 24(I think?) cylinder tank engines, and most things in between. Very cool stuff, and if I either pick up a second TW for a street/cafe project or decide to convert this one, it's the way I'm going to go with it.

Thanks, sorry I misread that. I'm generally familiar with MS in car applications but didnt realize they did small motors too. That's a pretty cool idea.

For anyone still interested in FI for our Tdubs, I came across this kit:

    https://www.rollingwrenchdenver.com/...nt=39978913102

It’s more or less universal, and also has the fuel pump built into the throttle body, just like the VanVan. Check it out!

I would be more than willing to try this on my TW and report back with detailed pictures, install, reviews, etc. BUT, I am not dropping $600 on that right now =(

If anyone else does, please start a new thread and let us know how it goes.

Way too many past bikes and builds to list. I won't bore you. Questions? Just ask.

I think FI is a great "upgrade" once the kits are cost effective. 600 dollars is NOT cost effective, IMO. Once the price point drops below 300, it might be a consideration. However if you're riding from a sea level location to the high country, I can see FI being more appealing.

As far as doing 90 on a TW, please, why bother? Grow up, or get in something that's capable of "going fast".
