    Extended swing arm??

I am curious about the benefits of this mod? I am a commuter and a trail rider, sometimes some pretty gnarly goat trails. I am thinking maybe a 2" extension. Will that give me any improvements on trail? Any possible negatives to consider?

    Advantages:
A little more stability due to longer wheelbase.
Gives clearance for big ATV tires.
    Increases rear suspension travel.
Decreases rear stiffness i.e feels like as softer spring is installed with longer travel.
Good opportunity to install sealed swing arm bearings in lieu of hard to install OEM seals and bushings.
    Can improve hill climbing ability.

    Disadvantages:
    Cost
Allows more mud, water, debris to be tossed up past rear fender.
    Increases turning radius.
Brings tire closer to rear of rear fender ( not a conflict issue with a 2" extension).
    Makes wheelies more difficult.

I too wondered why people did this, to me it doesn't seem like the advantages are worth the cost.

Well I am a Millwright/fabricator by trade so the cost would be nothing more than time.

    Hello,
