Ricochet Skid Plate Sound Dampener - or - How to get rid of that high pitch noise now

Ricochet Skid Plate Sound Dampener (my solution, tested and works 98% of resonant sounds stopped)

    Required:

    1) 2" x 1-1/2" x 3/16" medium hardness rubber pad or equivalent,
I used rubber mounting pad from Samsung Solid State Drive (SSD) mounting kit.
    2) .357" punch
    3) Hammer
    4) Sharp knife
    5) Ruler
    6) Pencil or marker

    Instructions:

Take rubber pad above and trace out two 1" x 1" squares

Cut out squares using sharp knife or scissors and retrieve your punch

Using hammer and a piece of wood punch center holes in rubber pads

Mount each rubber pad between Ricochet plate and left/right motor mount brackets

That's all folks! No more high pitched annoying sounds coming off your new skid plate...

(not sure how I attached the last two thumbnails but the editor won't let me get rid of them LOL)

My Ricochet showed up yesterday, and I liked the idea of dampening any odd noises it may bring. No idea if it sounds any different than without them, but I certainly didn't notice any high pitched noise.

    Go go gadget rubber things:

What, no grommet like sleeve to further isolate bolt threads from Ricochet plate?

Actually both the above posts are good innovations

It's not as fancy as it looks. Small benchtop drill press from whichever box store chain sells Delta, and a little baby Atlas/Craftsman 6" lathe from craigslist.

Well, since you mentioned it... You can see a bit of a protruding inside lip left by the parting tool in the shot below (right side of long bolt, inside of bracket). I oriented all the discs so that the protrusions all faced inward to the skidplate itself for that very reason. So not a full sleeve, but the threads are at least partially isolated.

I'll sure as hell try, but I will need a test unit here for extended and very thorough evaluation and prototyping.

That thing has a similar lighting setup to what I'm working on for the TW.

Designed around a TruckLite 7" LED headlight and their 4" round foglight with yellow Lamin-X on it, same as I use on the cars that take the 7" rounds.
