I have a 2006 TW...I just got some boots with a much thicker sole so my short inseam will reach the ground easier. However,

I need to have the shifter an inch or two longer so that my thicker soled boots will fit under and over for shifting.

any one have any ideas as to what would work in that regards?

    thanks

Maybe you can just rotate the shifter up a notch on the shaft.
Only a fool would attempt it, and God help me, I am that fool!

Look for a shifter for a YZ-125/250. I've read that the year ranges are 2005-2008 or 1996-2009. I have an Emgo brand aluminum shifter for a 2005 YZ-125/250 and it fits great. You'll love the extra length.

Anybody running a longer shifter with a TCI skid plate? Here's a picture of DonBenito's bike and it looks like it could be close. The camera angle could make it look closer than it is as well. I understand the YZ250 shifters bend out away from the bike more so it may be a non issue but I thought I'd try to verify before ordering one.

Mine is an Emgo brand. The shifter is longer, but it does kick out more (to the left). No clearance issues. I love it. Highly recommended.

Very cool. Just remember thats its aluminum (if you bought the aluminum one) so you need to make sure its tight on the shaft. You don't want it to loosen up and spin on the shaft.

Does anyone know why the 80-97 yz250 shifter won't fit? Its on Amazon for $15 but I need some length for my steel toes to and from work.

I ordered mine up at cyclegear for $10. If you go that route dont let them charge you the three bucks for shipping. I never charge anyone for it!
