My 93 speedo uses a wedge bulb to illuminate it at night. I tried a single LED version of the bulb and found it to be a bit dim. Today I got a "5 LED" bulb from ebay and I like it quite a bit because it's bright, but not overpowering like the even more LED bulbs like 10 or 13.
It almost looks like it's backlit by a flourescent light. This is what it looks like.
We shall see how long it lasts.. The cheap Chinese single LED bulbs I have burn out every 2nd ride I take on the bike.. vibration or voltage is killing them.
Those leds last a while. The ones with the actual tiny led bulbs die quickly. Ive had those on my bikes and theyve all died.
The 5 LED works well in the speedo, I put one in my first TW and ran with it for over a year, when I got this TW I switched the bulb over to it, it's been in this bike for 7 months and is still as bright as ever.
Only a fool would attempt it, and God help me, I am that fool!
