    Hello all,

I've had my 1996 TW for a little while, but am looking to upgrade the front end. I'm having a hard time finding good data on frame tube sizing. I'm not sure if there are any newer front ends (triples, forks, brakes, wheel) from other bikes that are a direct swap. I'm seriously considering the Zongshen 200 front end if the frame tubes are not far off.

I've searched the site, but not found any measurements. Thanks for the help!

I just brokered the info. There's a fork diameter chart that's in circulation on the 'net. That's just an excerpt.

There are also ones for steering stem and axle diameters, neck bearing sizes etc. Not all are 100% accurate but a good starting point in eliminating bad swap candidates. Beats stumbling blind and wasting buckets of munny like we did in the rotary dial days.

The devil is in the details when it comes to swaps. You need to have a clear picture of what you're hoping to accomplish (TW trees? TW wheels? Brakes?) , what tradeoffs and compromises (changes in seat height, weight, rake, trail, tank interference, how/where you even gunna hang yer headlight?) you're willing to accept, how much machine work and/or welding (steering stops, spacers, caliper hangers, bored triples, axles, does the bearing you need even exist?) you're willing to invest in, etc.

Not really an interest of mine when it comes to the TW, but I'm guessing there are a lot of members including myself who'd be willing to critique a potential fork swap just to see the results.

Bikejosh's RT fork swap is the only one I've ever really seen completed satisfactorily. It seems to work flawlessly and he's gone to the trouble of balancing it out with mods to the rear.

But then again he's like 8 feet tall and rides like his hair was on fire most of the time
