This is a long thread and the answer may have been posted (to much to read) but i'll throw this out there.

The washer with the tab is a "Wear Plate" and the outside washer is a "thrust washer".

You don't want rotational wear against a soft part, in this case what looks to be (hard to tell for sure from pic) a cast bushing/collar. The "washer" (wear plate) with the tab takes care of this and inhibits any rotation against the bushing, on that side anyway.

The thrust washer does what it's name indicates, takes up thrust.

If the Chinese part "collar/bushing" is a hardened machined part there is no real reason for the wear plate.

A thrust washer should be used so that the snap ring is not come in direct contact with the soft aluminum machined shoulder of the case cover.

That's how I see it anyway..

On a side note, and I did see this posted already by a pretty smart guy, "this possibly opens up a lot of opportunities for us with other parts.."

Could you please explain the function and purpose (i.e., the need) for the washer with the two ears and the flat washer that float on the kick axle between the circlip and the side cover? These are the two parts that the Zongshen kickstarter assembly apparently does not have.

Take your time, we've got about a month before the Zong parts show up .

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the explanation Jeeper!

When the Zongshen parts show up, I'll do a side by comparison of the parts and report back.

Question TW-Brian or TWilight etc probably know but does the kick shaft rotate while the engine is running or just when kicking ?

If just when kicking the bike over then wear is never going to be a factor on these parts

I also ordered up the Zongshen parts and will give them a close comparision with the mic to the OEM stuff and report back

Just when kicking. I don't think wear is an issue. Unless your talking about not using a washer between the snap ring and the case cover. I knew you were going to be all over this

Thats what I was thinking so in this case I'm happy using non OEM stuff

I'm still going to use the OEM case gasket and a few other parts but we can use the ZS cluster and maybe the kick arm (I'll use the kick arm for XT kits for sure) it will save a lt of loot on the kits
