i called bay area yamaha in oregon [(541) 756-1278] today, and currently they are backordered. 2 month waiting list
current price is 270usd + 14usd shipping (they say real yamaha parts from japan).

    any other suggestions?
I've tried many Zongshen kicker parts and find them to be of questionable quality the dimensions are not consistent and never identical to OEM Yamaha parts. The only ZS part I can use is the top half of the kick lever (ZS splines never match up IMO) I used the Yamaha "kick crank boss" which I have a bucket of left over from the old days when we bought XT225 kcker kits and converted them to TW200 kits. I had to drill out the spring hole for the detente ball but the upper lever fits the bottom "boss" perfectly. I do have questions re the quality of the steel in ZS parts because when drilling out the hole it feels like pot metal sort of greasy and gritty not buttery tough like good mild steel from Japan

The trick in ordering the parts is some of the 17 components are occasionally or often back ordered thus delaying your install. Also make sure you have the clutch nut lock washer and case gasket etc some of that is easy to forget. I have complete OEM Yami kits ready to mail but I get a little more than Bay Area who is barely breaking even even with tier one Gold Yami pricing. If you want a kit with everything ready to install now with no waiting and no forgetting parts or waiting on back orders I have a fair deal for forum members and I also acquired a stack of the EBC clutch holding tools I can add for cheap to make removing and tightening the clutch nut easy.

I'll be assembling and mailing out several kits Friday morning from Arizona and could easily add one to the list

I used the parts list contained in the thread mentioned above, got confirmation from the source that all parts were in stock and ordered all for right at $250.

Once received, i studied the instructions found in another thread, screwed up my courage and jumped right in.

    It was easy and rewarding.

If you want a kickstarter and have the bucks, just do it!

Thanks for that information. Is there any reason to believe it wont fit my 2017 TW?

    None!

The list was complete, the instructions were complete and the entire job was easy and far less intimidating than I first thought.

    Just do it!

I can put together a kick starter kit with Zongshen parts. As I understand it, your TW200 bikes need the following parts.

    Kick Axle Assembly

    Kick Crank Assembly

    28T Idler Gear

Finally, you will also need a Kick Shaft Oil Seal.

If anyone is interested, I can obtain these parts from China, and sell you a kick starter kit for a very reasonable price. These Zongshen parts are manufactured to a Yamaha standard of quality. I believe the original Yamaha kits had a retail price of $163.99, and were marked up as high as $250. If enough people are interested, I believe I can sell you a complete kit for approximately half the retail price of the original Yamaha kit. Please let me know what you think.

So what happened to this idea? I can't find anywhere in the forum where these "kits" became available?

there was huge demand for this offer but spuds never replied as far as I know

Forum member from Germany I believe Sebastion is his name offers some kind of aftermarket kicker kits on facecrook aka lifelog

I asked him if they were ZS but he would not answer directly he said he had them made for him from an Asian source but he admitted the splines are not compatible with the Yamaha splines which tells me it's Zongshen stuff

I found ZS parts to be hit and miss as far as dimensions etc so never seriously pursued using them to build kicker kits

If and when the parts become impossible to find I do have a USA based machine shop who could build high quality kicker parts but the price might be prohibitive

I thought you could buy a complete ZS for that money ?

Meanwhile – there’s plenty of scrap ’87’s out there for less than the sum of their parts ……
