Can anyone advise, as to what size the left side handlebar perch screws are ?. . These are philips head screws and I would like to change them out to something less strippable . I'm probably going to have to use vise-grips or something else to get the upper one out ( yes , I even used a JIS screw driver !.) ,it's not stripped / rounded out completely .......yet , but I want to change these out before doom sets in .:eek:

take a look here:

HANDLE SWITCH LEVER

you'll see those bolts are part #9, p/n: 98517-05020-00

Secret on yamaha part numbers is the second 5 digits. the first two is the bolt diameter (5mm) and the last 2 are the length (20mm). Then you just use the standard pitch sizes:

4mm = .7mm pitch
5mm = .8mm pitch
6mm = 1 mm pitch
8mm = 1.25mm pitch

I forget what 3mm is offhand but its standard throughout (.5 or .6mm pitch IIRC). 10mm starts going back and forth between 1.25 and 1.5 mm pitch depending on the application.

hope that helps.
