    Carburetor

    is there any actual "adjustment" in rebuilding a carburetor ?

    I take everything out

    clean clean clean

    put back in

    screw in all the way

    most cases bike runs perfect b ut sometimes ...

    I am at sea level

    Float height, shims on needle valve, air fuel mixture screw (pilot)

    "screw in all the way".....if your referring to the pilot screw on the botton of the bowl, perhaps try unscrewing it 2 - 2.5 turns out and see how the bike run's .

    With the air screw does less turns out make it more lean? or rich?

    So they adjust opposite of each other? The newer ones get leaner as you adjust the screw out? And the older models get richer when you adjust the screw out? Mine (87) get's richer the farther you take the air screw. I wasn't aware of this. Is this true? It doesn't seem right to me.

    If I understand correctly, the newer models run richer if the pilot screw is turned OUT. I have a '14 and stock it was about 3/4 turns out. I turned it out 2.25 turns and it runs richer. In many cases, I don't even have to choke it to start the TUU cold.
