    Hello folks,

I have noticed my TW seems to idle high once it's warmed up. When I start it "cold" it idles fine, but when I get into town it seems to be idling much higher. I imagine if I'm next to someone at a red light they probably think they are in for a race lol. Is this normal or do I need to adjust/ repair/ clean something? Thanks for the help!

Sounds like your getting ready to run out of gas. The idle will raise when running out.

Or....someone adjusted it when it was cold and not operating tempature.

Simply warm it up by riding it. When its completely warmed up, then simply turn the

idle speed knob down a little. IIRC the idle should be set between 1200-1500rpm.

They idle a little bit faster than most bikes.

It the idle is set too low, they tend to stall out when taking off, or studder.

    Hope this helps.

I'd also run 2oz of seafoam through a full tank just to make sure the jets are clean.

They may also be varnished causing it to idle high.

    Good luck

Thanks I had plenty of gas and I'll put seafoam in again in the next tank of gas.

If none of that does the trick, sometimes a too tight exhaust valve can cause the engine to idle high. It only takes a few minutes to check 'em and make sure.

Also check your throttle cable freeplay that can sometimes cause the high idle.

Thanks for the good tips! I won't be able to mess it until Sunday. Talking to a buddy of mine with a 90's Suzuki street bike he tells me he has the same issue. After riding hard or just for long periods it seems to idle at around 4k rpm instead of a normal 2k. It is due for a valve inspection, I hit 10k miles a few weeks ago.
