    Tubes off of carb?

Hi everyone, I recently bought a '90 TW and noticed these tubes hanging off of the carb. they're melted through and I was wondering if I should worry about this or what their purpose is. If anyone has the answer I'd love to hear it! Thanks.

Carb vent lines ,it is necessary that they be un-obstructed.

Do you think it would work if I just cut them above the melted off point? Does the length of the tube matter?

For a cheap quicky fix sure, but you don't want to ingest dust nor debris through those vents. Replace them with something suitable soon, need not be OEM yamaha tubing, and run them down below engine through a wire loop by swing arm. Many will add a very small fuel filter to act as a dust filter since pressure pulses can draw in dust and mud ultimately gumming things up.

Awesome - I'll pick up a similar tubing from the hardware store and replace them soon! Thanks for the heads up.

I do, thanks! For some reason I couldn't find any reference to the purpose of these tubes though. Perhaps I need to look harder.
