I just ordered a 60 tooth rear sprocket. What length 428 chain do I need?

I did the calculator and it said 112 links. I know that's not right.

    You're correct. Stock is 122. I use 128 for a 14/55 combo, so I'm guessing you'll need at least a 136-138 for a 60.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Powdercoated '87 frame, extended swingarm, YZ fork legs, ATV tire, 14/55, XT350 tank, spliced quick-release seat, disc brake conversion, beeg headlight, beeger rack, Lizrdcooler, Lizrdventz and bunch of other stuff all covered in invisible ink.

    Try this:

    Sprocket/Chain Calculator

I took off a 126 link chain for my 14/55 setup and replaced it with a 124 link chain. You'll find that a couple lengths will work.
If you can't find it, grind it

    For me,

14/60 "128 links" is the correct size (measure) ..!

christddel is right on. Plug the variables into a sprocket/chain calculator and you'll get 127 and a remainder, so round up and a 128 link chain will be just fine.

This is short and sweet. With Christddel post we have it all. Think this should be made a sticky if we don't already have the formula. Gerry
    Take care my Friend.........

I'm a moron. I guesstimated yours with the same axle setback I use with my ATV tire.

I calculated it by center-to-center distance and got 128 as well.

I'd buy it long, in any case. Slide the axle as far forward as possible with no weight on the bike, see where the links fall in the real world with proper slack, then break the chain.

You guys are great. The 128 chain fit the 60 tooth sprocket perfectly. Thanks to all.

Hey, CTHunter. Can you link to the sprocket and chain you ordered?

    TIA
