Ironically, the stock jetting is probably about perfect for the Colorado mountains.

I have a 2008 TW, live in Colorado, and ride in the mountains. Stock jetting is super! Enjoy. And if you plan on being anywhere near Pueblo Colorado, look me up!

Yup. #114 or #125 or #126, depending on year and market, no washers under the needle, 1.5 turns out.

I have a spare air filter cover with holes in it and duct tape over the holes. Above 11,000 feet it helps to pull the duct tape.

The logic is (and we are not always logical on this forum, nor do we usually agree this much) that TWs are turned out of the factory too lean but if they are, they should run better at higher elevations than at lower ones like Georgia. My bike has been below 5000 feet only a couple of times in its 9 year existence and its happy up here. Cheers, Tom

Not to thread jack, but I was out riding at about 10,000 feet here in Colorado with a passenger and noticed a bit of sputtering on steep hills in fourth gear. Once the road flattened out a bit and I was back in 5th gear the bike ran like a dream. Any thoughts? It's an '05 and everything is stock.

At 10000 feet, a little leaner than stock would be better, but at the bottom of the mountain you'd be running so lean that you'd be risking your engine. One solution is to have some holes in your airbox that you uncover at the top, and cover back up at the bottom.

Works for me. I have a second air filter cover with holes. Duct tape covers the holes at low altitude.

Right on, how many and how big are the holes that you make?
