Coming up the road today in fifth & was losing rpm, happen in fourth third & second. I have 1800 miles
on my bike. I pulled over. I went & got my trailer & got the bike home. I put it fifth & tried to push it
but tire locked up. Pull the spark plug it looked great. Pull the oil filter look great. Do you think the cam might be stuck?
Any suggestions would be great. I am shocked that it happen. Plus it won't turn over, it just clicks. Mike
It is 2008. Oil level is right on, changed oil 25 miles ago. What I was thinking since it is hard to move the bike in fifth gear
something has to be locked up. I tried to move the bike with the clutch out. I guess something could come loose in the top
end, i am really disappointed. Mike
Does any one know where to buy a manual for the tw 200, I don't want the cd. Thanks Mike
Does it start as is? Idle good? Use the correct oil filter?
Mine will lock the tire in 5th too if I'm near TDC. Or if the rear tire can't grab enough traction.
There's a free pdf of the manual in the technical service folder, download and print it. If you don't want that, eBay is an option.
Yes it did, before this happen. Never had a problem. It ran great. What would you suggest, take the top end
a part? Mike
You can pull the cam without having to removing the head. Saving yourself a gasket.
You could check the valve clearances and see where they are sitting. The locknut could have came loose, valve clearance goes out of spec and you get your running condition.
You could do a compression test or leakdown test to test the piston/rings.
You have more options than tearing it apart.
Maybe just a tank venting issue?
Does it idle now? Meaning, after you had this issue.
It won't start, it just clicks. Battery is in good shape, lights are bright.
Sure it's not the dreaded wrong oil filter issue is it? The look-alike, fit-alike oil filter that doesn't have the holes for allowing oil into the top end? Sure sounds like it
If your only tool is a hammer
Everything looks like a nail
I will check out the oil filter. If it is the wrong one, does it mean bad news? Mike
