    Unidentified Bearing

I am fortunate enough to have someone help me and teach me how to dismantle my engine and rebuild it...for a small fee of course. We are going to be replacing the bearings/seals/gaskets etc... but he asked about this unidentified bearing on the crankshaft. bearing.jpgAny info would be great...thanks.

That would be one of the two crank bearings. One on each side. The other bearing left of #4 is the rod bearing

Thanks Shag but does that mean I would need 2 #7 bearings or what size would I need?

Yamaha considers that bearing non replaceable. That bearing and the lower rod bearing require special tools and experience to replace and then properly re-align the crank. It's generally not worth the time and trouble vs new. I wouldn't touch them unless they were shot. It's unlikely they are bad unless the engine has been abused. With the time and cost involved either buy a used crank off of eBay or a new assembly. At least that's what I would do even having the tools and press.

Best photo I have to illustrate the part in question and what JJ is saying. I'm rebuilding a motor and gonna replace the whole thing seen below.

Hidden Content A ride in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact I'm dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant?
