Help with a mysterious rubber plug

    Hello everyone!
I just got home from work riding my bike on a nasty rainy day. I was cleaning/drying the bike with a rag when out of the blue this little rubber plug jumped in front of me, at that point I was on the left side of the bike close to the air box, use it as a clue. I've been looking and looking to find its location but no luck, not to smart I guess!!!
Can anybody recognize it?? It is 10mm x 6mm and I can read 5HO on its side. It might not be a crucial part but I hate not knowing what's is for and I really need to know if I want to get a good sleep 😴

    Thanks in advance
    Daveed

It looks like one of the rubber pucks that are jammed in between the cooling fins on the cylinder. You'd better replace it immediately (just kidding). For more details see the following thread.

Look at the fins on your cylinder (both sides), notice anything?

They tend to get brittle and shrink with age and fall out. Slowly the bike will get perceptibly noisier at the high end of its noise spectrum. I put new ones in after about 6 years and 12,000 miles.

If you take them out won't they decrease wind resistance and increase top end speed?

Sure...You would go from a top of 65 mph to a top of 65.000000099 mph.
