You should be fine...don't mess with the airbox.
My TW lived in the NC mountains for 9 years with no problems. I even had richer main and pilot jets.
What did you do to the gearing?

Sorry if this has been posted, I read quite a bit searching for an answer to my question. I am at sea level (south Florida), and am taking a trip to the Tail of the Dragon (TN Tri-City Areas) and will be riding all over there. The Skyway, the Snake, Dragon, etc etc. I just want to know if I should worry about jetting. I have a stock bike except for the gears. I read that stock is fine up to about 5k ft elevation, and I think "some" of the roads are near that if not above.
If jetting is something I shouldnt worry about, is there something I should? I read also that some people drill holes in the box and keep them taped up until they need them.
What are your opinions on what I should do/bring.
Thanks
Daniel

I moved up to this neck of the woods about 12 years ago from S FL.
Few of the roads get as high as 5,000' or a little more - the top of the Cherohala is about 5,400' I think. SL bikes seem to do just fine.
If you feel like it, touch base when you make the trip. If you end up needing anything, I have a Handy Lift and tools. Or just get a bite in nearby Copperhill - whatever. The Dragon is about 40 miles from my house as the crow flies, but close to two hours if you're not a crow! Plus lots of fairly easy fire roads not far from my house.
Hey Fast Eddy, where did you get your name? Not by riding the TW?
I didn't know anyone lived in Mineral Bluff...
I pass through the one stop sign on the way to my cabin north of

It was actually a nickname my ex-wife gave me on our honeymoon. But enough about that!No one of consequence, anyway.I didn't know anyone lived in Mineral Bluff...Take 60 or Spur 60. Decisions, decisions. Stay on 60 and you go right by Harper Valley Rd.I pass through the one stop sign on the way to my cabin north of

And if that reminds you of anything, you must be of a certain age!

I wouldn’t worry about jetting but perhaps be prepared for some serious downshifting once those 15/42 sprockets leave flat Florida.
