I participated in the Clarke Tank buy-in, and I'd like to get some feed back from the members before I go ahead any further.

My main concern, are these dimples on the front of the tank. Are these common? Anything to worry about?

The tank is still in the box, waiting for me to do what's appropriate.

Aside from that, my only other negative experience is a scratch down the right side of the tank, that I can easily cover with a decal, so I don't care about that, not at the price!

    NOT bitching, just checking. m.

Mike, I picked up a 'scratch and dent' tank from a member on here that wasn't comfortable with the prospect of mods, blemishes and a spot that looks really wanky.

At the price I (he) paid, I don' have an issue and don't see any issues with the tank lasting a long time and working great for me.

However, if I had paid for a 'new' tank, I would expect a decent tank.

My mind tells me that these are trail bikes, they aren't show bikes. So FOR ME, the dimples would not be an issue. The scratch would bother me if it's bad and can't be buffed out. Not because it's a show bike, but because I didn't get the scratch and dent price.

Ultimatly if your not satisfied with your pruchase, I would advise talking to the vendor and seeing if there's any room for a solution that would make you both happy.

My tank also has some very small "dimples". I dont have another Clarke to compare to so I dont know if its normal. Doesnt bother me though, it should work just fine.

It might be a decent idea to point them to this thread so they can see for themselves.

Thanks everyone! After consideration I have decided to keep the tank & put it into use ASAP. Cosmetics are of little issue here, the bike gets plenty of envious attention all by its self. Many boonters like the idea of a bike that can easily go up & down the long dirt roads, and handle the asphalt too, for the small run to town for goodies, grocery's, pick up the post, etc. I think I might eventually get a few converts around here yet! Bahl tracks to you, m.

Yep, I would just use it. Gonna get scratched anyway when you dump it or tree branch reaches out to you. These are trail bikes, not flashy street bikes. Good to have a few battle scars.....
