I tried jumping the tw off my car and it started, rode it for an hour, turned off the bike and tried to start her. Would not start so I tried jumping her again. Now she won't even turn over, just silence. Tried overnight trickle charger and still nothing.

Does this sound like a fried battery or an electrical issue? wouldnt the bike have started with a jump even if the battery was bad?

When a battery is past a certain point it will not take a charge no matter how large of a jolt you give it. Sounds like you need a new battery either way. Get the battery and see if that fixes it. If not, then start worrying about electrical. I got my battery from chrome battery on ebay for $21. Received it in 3 days.

You at the least blew the fuse. It's not made to take that kinda load, really. Look under the right sidecover. There's probably a spare encased next to your inline fuse in there.

In the mean time, bump start it. In fact, you should do that now to narrow it down a bit.

Not sure you blew a fuse. I have jumped my bike off a car battery without that happening... not to say it's impossible ,but not likely.

Bump starting will allow you to find out if its electrical. Do it in 2nd or 3rd gear.

    GET A NEW BATTERY!

I'd look at the fuses also. Even if your battery is toast and has a bad cell, you should still be able to jump start it.

If the bike will bump start, then you can quit worrying about a lot of issues.

Another gremlin that has bitten me in the past is the cable leads to the starter. Make sure they are tight and clean.

It is possible to jump the bike from a car. It is not designed for those kinds of loads, but you can get away with it, however, if you managed to short the positive lead to some portion of the bike, you can expect a burnt fuse.

Good luck and please post up what you find!

Thanks for the help all. Looks like it was the fuse. I removed the battery last night and charged over night. I replaced the fuse and was able to start off the old battery. Still going to change the battery and will order new one today, I'm just glad that the bike starts and it's not some electrical problem especially as the bike only has 110 miles on her. Thanks again

If yours is newer than '01, you might enjoy owning a kickstarter for situations like this. It's not a terribly hard project. As well, make sure to keep a good spare fuse in there.
