the spark plug wire insulator, the outer one, was sun damaged. I cut it off and would like to replace it. necessary?

the old outter insulator tube was a bit loose on the plug wire. like that when new?

any suggestions for a replacement material? I have a clear vinyl(?)tubing that will work. my main question: can I pull off the plug connector and put it back on without damaging it, so I can slip the tubing on?

    the TW is a 1987.

I'm not an expert, but would say it is not necessary. I took mine off. May depend on your climate and the riding you do (just how hot it gets in there). I'm usually not going slow & it is cooler here.
