    What I've discovered so far....

    I said I'd be pulling the carb on Saturday, but I had some time after getting home from work today, so I dug into it.
    Here is what I've discovered:

    Main Jet - #126
    Pilot Jet - #31
    Float height - 11mm
    No shims under needle.

    According to the Manual ('01 Supplement) this is what I should have:

    So in other words...this one is BONE STOCK...except for that annoying FMF.
    So correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a change of exhaust REQUIRE a jetting change?

    If this is how it came from the factory, I should be able to replace the original exhaust without needing to touch anything else, right?

    I also noticed that the cap for the frame tube by the LEFT footrest was missing...basically anything could get up into the frame. Injected some expanding foam for about 4" or so..that should keep out the elements!

    Preliminary tests (this evening) showed no discernible difference in performance.
    Burble-test was good...top speed hasn't changed.

    The only thing that has changed is the noise level.
    Oh...and she starts easier and idles better.

    " Injected some expanding foam for about 4" or so..that should keep out the elements!"....and keep in any water. Frame tubes typically have weep holes to let any condensation drip out unless you live in someplace very dry with low humidity like British Columbia.

    If he lives in the valley, its bone dry. Canada's only desert.

    In B.C. you can go skateboarding/bmx/snowboarding/dirt biking, whatever in the same day.

    Unfortunately, Fred is right...I am in what's known as the Lower Rainland (Lower Mainland...1 hr East of Vancouver) and it is typically quite wet around here.
    We average 1000 - 1500 mm (40 - 60 inches) per year...yet you travel 1½ hr north of here and Lytton gets HALF of that rainfall and is usually the hot spot in Canada.

    Didn't think of "trapping" water....I just saw an open hole and thought I should plug it. At least it will be easy enough to remove that stuff...it's just like styrofoam when it cures. A 3/4" auger bit will remove it in short order.


    Yes...I have gone riding AND snow-shoeing in the same day!

    So this is the area in question...

    So why isn't there some sort of cap...even a cap with a hole! Before I put the foam in it...it was just an open pipe.

    I wouldn't put foam in it. Moisture and corrosion trap.

    Measure the hole and find a rubber plug at the local auto parts store. Grease the tube/pipe and plug it.

    It wasn't foam rubber...it was that expanding foam that builders use...but I'll try to find a plug for it somewhere.
