    TW125 Engine Identification

    Evening all!

    I have a conundrum

    I have just bought a 2003 TW125 that I know from the frame number is a DE05

However the engine is fitted with a single cable carburetor that I think comes from the DE01 machines and not the twin cable constant pressure carb that should be fitted

What I don't know at the moment is it has been refitted with an older engine at some point or just the older style of carb

So the question is, the DE05 will have the 5 plate while a DE01 will have a 4 plate clutch but is it possible to tell which is which without taking the clutch housing off?

    Cheers

Failing that, I've just found the engine number on the original log book.

I googled for the info but not found where that is stamped on the engine yet.

    Can any one help?

On the TW200 the engine number is stamped on a pad on the case and it is under the exhaust pipe next to the crankcase vent tube, just below the carburetor. Its a little hard to see and get a picture of it but the white arrow points to it. One corner of the pad is visible. I hope this helps.

Well it definitely doesn't have the engine it started out with which will go some way to explaining why it has the wrong carb on it!

    Thaks though
