How tight should the woodruff key on the crank be (underneath the rotor)

The factory yamaha one was short and tight and had to be tapped out with a small brass punch.

The replacement factory OEM replacement ones are a couple milimeters narrower, and longer (overlap the ends of the slot).

The sit loose enough to simply push out with your finger.

I'm concerned they fall out of the slot. Is that possible?

Is it safe to use the new updated versions?

    Thanks

Sounds kina hinkie. I'd reuse the old one.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Powdercoated '87 frame, extended swingarm, YZ fork legs, ATV tire, 14/55, XT350 tank, spliced quick-release seat, disc brake conversion, beeg headlight, beeger rack, Lizrdcooler, Lizrdventz and bunch of other stuff all covered in invisible ink.

...maybe polish any dings of burrs of it with some 600 grit on a flat surface. This needs to be a good, tight fit.

If it really is a couple millimeters narrower, they gave you the wrong part.
