I guess I am more of a neanderthal. Have had to do a lot of chains for saws lol and the chain tool is great. In a pinch I go back to the grinder or file and chisel. Just take off the pin heads and punch them out. Yes, it is crude, but works. carrying these tools work for other things on the trail too. A small hammer, chisel, file don't take much room and can be the difference of walking or riding, and of course a couple of masterlinks are a no brainer.
Tell us how you like the lower gearing. My wife is running stock and I am running a 47 on the rear. Seems I still have plenty of power in low. I still go out on the secondary roads and like the lower rpm's at speed. I will be doing more off road or logging roads with the wife so gearing up to a 55 and trailering might be an option.
