Since I think I may have the slowest TW in the world, although I haven't tested out the new rings and hone job, I ordered one. Hoping it might increase performance.

Thanks Tom ,and YamTW87 .mine is a really early 87 , sin 212. the silicone is the elastic type . I thought there was only one pc board ,buried in that goo ! I will be ordering a new one when finances permit , our Canadian dollar is at .75 of yours right now and I am a pensioner with low income and another bike on the mend ( 82 GS 1100 1100 ).so it may be awhile. thanks again , Bob Oh ,I did wire in a 1983 Honda XL 650 cdi from a parts bike I have ,and it produced lots of good spark while cranking with the starter. but the bike is still apart so have no idea if it will run with said CDI .

I’m about to buy a red and white low mileage tw200 with what appears to be a bad cdi. The little bit of research I’ve done from other users claims that the 1987 is different than the 1988 and subsequent years. Something to do with DC vs AC power. Since i’ll Almost definitely be buying a new cdi, can you confirm that your 1987 replacement cdi is a proven plug and play unit? Thanks in advance!

Never mind, I read an earlier post where the power source is accounted for in the harness.

Did a lot of surfing around here and this forum seems the place to be. Here in Belgium, there are hardly any TW riders. So ... is there a CDI available for a TW 125? Thanks.

Just a little update and info. A few things have changed along the way. All TW200 CDIs are AC powered. The 87 is only different in the way Yamaha did this. My CDIs are all the same and have a very sophisticated power supply to run the micro processor, something the Yamaha ones never had. Because of this only the wiring harness on the CDI is different so it will be plug and play on that year bike. It also provides better spark at cranking for faster easier starting, rev limit is at 9014 rpm. Tach output signal is standard on all CDIs.

    May try one too

I may try one now. I bought a 2000 with only 1400 miles on it but it doesn't run as well as it should. Has some hesitation at mid throttle and stuttering. Probably the carb needs to be cleaned although I've been running SeaFoam in it for a tank full and it hasn't changed any.
