    Shackelford crossing

    Pic from last year. Main boards were dated 1983, if I remember correctly. Could not ride on boards running parallel with bridge as gaps were wide enough to catch the front tire. I found this bridge much more disconcerting to cross than the couple of swinging bridges left in the area.

    I ride between the runners. Fast. A little buzzy, but no big deal. Even if a cross tie is missing at speed it's just a smooth spot in the buzz.

    Same thing with running down the center of an old railroad track. Just make sure it's an old track and not an active one!
