Blair Valley is situated between Granite Mountain and Whale Peak, accessible along County Road S-2 south of California Route 78. This is a primitive camp and weather will be in the 90's. I am camping there on May 28,29,30 if anyone would like to join me let me know. Here is a map and what a camp looks like in the Valley.

Checked the weather and its going to be cooler than I thought, more like in the 80's. I’m riding from Blair Valley to Ocotillo Wells through Split mtn road on Saturday. Should be a great ride!

Great camping location. I always camp in little Blair Valley on the other side of the hill. Rodriguez Ridge and the Mason Valley truck trail in that area are great rides as well. Have fun, the weather should be nice.

I lived in Poway for over thirty years and rode that area extensively. Just seeing your map brings back fond memories.

    Jimbo,

It's a small world. One of the guys I work with here at one time worked at the Julian pie factory. I remember the first time going down the drop off. Big pucker factor. 30 years ago you could spend a week out there and not see another soul. Was a good place to lay naked on the warm sand, but you probably know that.

We had a great time rideing all over even down the drop off, would not and could not ride up that! Never saw another bike rider for 4 days just Jimbo, and JJ. Best ride was from Blair Valley to Ocotillo Wells a cold beer at the Iron Door and back to camp. Jimbo had a great set up with the fold out tent. JJ see you next time for more fried fresh water bass.

Very nice. It's getting to be time for the annual JT run, no?
