Heading through the upper valley
Past Las Cruces NM following the Rio Grande River
Oh well I roam from town to town
I go through life without a care
'Til I'm as happy as a clown
With my two fists of iron and I'm going nowhere
I noticed the posting on HDs and TWs, well I figure that there are many people who own more then one motorcycle or have gone through more then one motorcycle and appreciate all motorcycles for what they are. I have been fortunate that I have gone through many types of motorcycles throughout my short life, from little motorcycles to big motorcycles. I have had the pleasure to own Japanese Heavy Metal bikes, English Hard Steel bikes, American Iron bikes and etc…. All of them hold a place in my heart and memories in my head.
This is a little RR on a small 350+ mile ride through the upper valley to the Caballo Reservoir, from there I headed through the Emory Pass cutting through the Gila Forest. From the Emory Pass I headed down to Columbus NM and followed the border back road back into El Paso.
Now of course I am no expert riding my motorcycle, but then again I did ride my motorcycle to a Holiday Inn once upon a time, a long, long, long time ago….
You ask why? Well it was just too hot to go backpacking in my neck of the desert, too hot to take a hike through the desert, too hot to go fishing, can’t dance and sometimes we just have a need to wander through the grandeur of our backyards to be in awe of nature as we pass through to see some eye candy, well I'm the type of guy who will never settle down, Where pretty girls are well, you know that I'm around, Cause I'm the wanderer yeah the wanderer…….
Heading through the mountains to get to the valley to get to the mountains ….. Cause I'm the wanderer…..
A little breakfast for a wanderer

Heading towards the Gila – Heading towards the cool, cool sprinkle of rain, the intoxicating smell of sweet rain feels my nostrils, a heavenly smell that will permeate through my entire soul through seeming-less endless moments of time today…
Made a small stop in Hillsboro, had a nice conversation with a colorful local, darn you got to love the people in small towns –
Hillsboro is a small community of writers, artists, miners and ranchers. Every year they use to have what was called the Apple Festival on the Labor Day weekend. The town’s people voted to stop having it a couple of years ago or so, darn, truly enjoyed riding my motorcycle to the event, well who knows, maybe they will decide to do it again someday.
Oh yeah I'm the type of guy that likes to roam around
I'm never in one place I roam from town to town
Well off to the Emory Pass and part of the Geronimo Scenic Byway –
Oh yeah I'm the type of guy that likes to roam around
I'm never in one place I roam from town to town
And when I find myself a-fallin' for some girl
I hop right on that bike of mine and ride around the world
Yeah 'cause I'm a wanderer yeah a wanderer
Of course I have seen times that there actually is water in Percha Creek
Heading into Emory Pass
We are in what is known as monsoon season, we are getting a little much needed rain here and there, but as you can see we need more ….
A small side trip into a camping area to have a little fuel for the body, the motorcycle takes a rest.
Heading toward Deming NM, half of the trip follows the Mimbres river valley.
I hop right on that bike of mine and ride around the world
Yeah 'cause I'm a wanderer yeah a wanderer
Well a little rain, feels good, only lasted about 10 miles, The pictures do not show the rains that were dropping all around me in the distances, through the Gila area the fresh smell of rain was in the air giving high-quality intoxicating effect on a person’s psyche.
A Rest stop just before Deming, I have taken many, many breaks here throughout the years. The place is always a pleasant place to stop.
A quick stop in Deming to get some gas and time to make a decision on what to do next. I can take the freeway home or I head toward the border for a slow scenic drive home.
Me thinks the border route is the route for me.
Oh well I roam from town to town
I go through life without a care
'Til I'm as happy as a clown
Columbus NM – got its fame from the old time raid of Pancho Villa, of course Columbus is in the news again, seems the mayor and a few of the towns people have been arrested for dealing arms to the drug cartels in Mexico.
Well near the end of this little journey, a little 70 mile run along the border back to the city.
I hop right on that ike of mine and ride around the world
Yeah 'cause I'm a wanderer yeah a wanderer
I roam around around around...
'Cause I'm a wanderer yeah a wanderer
I roam around around around
