    Last Butterfly Ride

You all have probably had days like this : "Honey, I'm going for a quick ride to ( insert favorite excuse here). Be back soon." Well one thing leads to another and next thing you know four hours go by and you find yourself many a mile from home, no cell service yet having a great time.
This is when I came across a lonely butterfly flitting from one dried flower to another. "Better get moving little fellow, winter is coming"
Then I realized with sun going down I better get moving too. My excuse was searching aspen groves for the last of the fall colors. Cold snap, tremendous winds and many inches of rain had not only stripped leaves but eroded many of easy trails into rutted, bouldery challenges. I did find some colorfull corners to slide around, will post more pics.

Did you come home to a, "why didn't you call? I've been worried sick about you! That was a little more than a quick ride, wasn't it?"

Serious erosion had me abandon original plan to ride sandy single tracks so I explored old railroad grades and gas pipeline access roads in Dog Valley. A normally locked gate was open giving me access to some rarely used and thus smooth curvy roadbed to play on. I was on the stock TwailWing rear tire yesterday and was enjoying rediscovering pleasure of sliding rear around on corner after corner, something my Duro ATV tire does not do well. When trying to back the Duro into corners a la flat track the Duro tends to stand upright, go ballistic and take off in unauthorized directions. The TrailWing is a lot more predictable and controllable. It did let me down at times thus giving me a chance to test Forma waterproofing ( fell in mud puddle) and impact resistance ( crushed between rock and frame)

The pine needle on right boot points to a scar on leather that could have been a scar on me

Good boots on and off bike, felt very secure scrambling up rocky outcrops on foot as well as bush whacking where the bushes whack back.

Lunch break had me inspecting a recent lightning scar.

Always something interesting. Also spooked two nice mule deer herds bedded down away from wind.

Excellent fall ride by the looks! Very cool!

Just thoughts. Yesterday I too was on a ride with the stock rear. Only because I had swapped from the Ceros to the TW34 for some pavement riding and didn't want to switch back. Lazy! With my Ceros I had the weird tracking you mention when using the stock front tire. This almost completely disappeared and rode rather normal when I put on the SR241. I have no explanation. Don't have experience with the Ceros and a front tire like you use. Traction between the Ceros and stock TW34 is noticeable for sure! Thanks for sharing!

Hidden Content A ride in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact I'm dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant?

Suppose I could have just enjoyed colors closer to home, but where is the fun in that?

Excellent pics!! All I got to look at yesterday was rain mixing with snow. I think my riding season is drawing to a close. Mike
