    Phoenix area TW200 owners..

I just picked up a (NEW TO ME) 2009 TW200, and I feel like the gears/trans are just a little off. Was wondering if there are any local West Phoenix TW200 owners that know a lot about these bikes and would be willing to come out and take a look/ride it, and see what they thought. I am use to bigger bikes so I am not sure if the way the bike runs is normal or not.

I am going on my first long ride Nov 9th to Crown King and just want to make sure everything is good to go! Also if anyone else is interested on going on that ride, you are more than welcome to tag along. So far there will be two of us going.

    Thanks
    Mike

Glad I bought my TW new because if it had been used I woulda thought the gears were messed up. First gear is so low the bike could do without in most situations. Seriously messed up! But no, that's normal and something I'm happy about now after riding the rough stuff. Great for steep rocky hills and/or paddling along with feet extended. Sorry I can't help with your request in person (I'm in Kingman). Good luck getting it sorted.

Well, the first thing to do is count the teeth to see if you have stock gearing or not. The rear should have a number on it, but the front is a bit harder to count. Here's how: Put a daub of red paint on a tooth that you can get to from the rear of the opening and rotate until it comes to the same spot. Only count the red mark once. Even stock (14/50), the TW is geared pretty low, and that is exactly what it's supposed to be like.

Crown King up from Lake Pleasant? I'd want lower gearing than stock! For all the other approaches stock is fine.

Thanks for the responses so far!
RockyTFS, will stock gearing be OK for the ride to Crown King? I have been riding for over 20 years, but mostly motocross bikes. I have owned a few larger dual sports (XR600, DR350) but I am not used to the smaller, lower geared bikes.
