Well my son Nate(Nate29) have started this ride on my birthday weekend the last 2 years. This year we headed out for a ride from Plain,Wa. to lake Chelan and back.

Here we are all geared up and ready to roll

getting started by crossing the river.

First pic opt. With Lake Wenatchee and Fish lake in the background. Also you can see the smoke from the Tumwater Canyon fire.

Then it was of to Sugarloft Lookout, talked to the ranger there and he had a few stoiers to tell about some old fires that have been spotted from his tower.

We left the tower and headed for French Corral and then down to the Eniat River road to find a place to camp.

Found a nice spot by the creek(Lake Creek camp ground $10.00 for the night)

A little breakfest and off we go over Slide Ridge road and up to Big Hill to check out the cabin. Snowmobile riders and hunters use this cabin and suprisingly its been cleaned up. It has 4 bunks afew cans of beans some plates, table and a wood stove.

and the only snow we found. It is at 6700ft

    Some pics

We rode up to Junior Point Lookout. Looks to be an old lookout tower site. We had lunch there and meet a few other riders that came by.

    Had him take our pic.

This is the road we would be heading out on from the lookout.

    Some pics of Lake Chelan.

Headed onward to windy ridge where we found this brand new yurt in the middle of nowhere. Must have been a really slow ride in there truck to get the stuff up here.

On our way to find a camp site for the night we ran into this. Not sure what it was used for bu it was built into the side of the hill and had a bench in it made of rock as well.

We did run into a couple of mountain bikers from SE Alaska. They flew into Seattle and rode north up over the North Cascade mountain Pass and were headed back to Seattle.

Here we are at the Eniat Ridge road. This is directly above where we would be deer hunting in 2 weeks.

Off to find a camp site. We had a place in mind. Someone was setup about 50yards from where we were going to set camp. This guy comes running over and starts talking like we are old friends. Then asks if we are camping there, we say yes and he says can you move over to that other spot 50yards away. WHAT?? My son not happy says nothing and just puts his helmet back on and we look elsewhere. Not finding what we want we go back and camp in the spot 50 yards away from him. When we return here he comes again to chat?????? I say nothing to him this time and he finally gets the message and goes back to his camp.

Well we did a little deer scouting before heading back to the truck. Had a great time. My youngest son says he will have his endorsment by next year so he can go as well.

Back at the truck all loaded up.

All the pics can be seen here.

    Slide show of pics.

All most forget that I bruised my tail bone on the first day going down hill and had a terrible nights sleep. But I found this was a life saver.

Saw your ride report Mike. That's a lot of miles. You were only about 4 miles from the house here when you were on marine drive going out of Marysville. Next time let me know and we can get together. How was hwy 2 coming over? There is a dirt road that goes along Lake Wenatchee and comes out up the pass.

    Thanks for the invite!!

That trip of yours discovered some nice spots. That dugout shelter you ran into reminds me of a hermit cave on old US50 (in Utah-a 1930s alignment-gravel road) as you go over Marjum Pass-looks much the same.

    Great views on the ridges.

Thanks for posting these pictures. It's got me thinking for next summer……...

He he... I love the sign on the bridge. Snowmobiles and motorcycles only. Yeah!!

Too often anymore you see signs forbidding access for us.

The stone building in the side of the hill has the looks of an old W.P.A. project. They used that kind of big stone & concrete style.
