I'm going to the Pine Barrens 7-23-17

I just figured out a way to get out for a day on the weekend and while its short notice for me, Im not missing out on it,
I want to be clear that I will be starting a bit early Saturday morning and finishing up around 230-3pm,
I am going to be going down a set of long since abandoned RR tracks which are quite overgrown and cross a couple smaller streams and there are no bridges as the ties have long since washed away and to portage the small water crossings can be a real pain in the ass, May have to build small ramp or log bridge on the way, It can be frustrating and annoying, But rest assured it will be a real slow adventure,
Ive been some 10 miles down the tracks in the receint past and its do-able,
If youre wanting to go fast and furious thru the pines, This ride is not for you,
Im sorry to say, That if its your first time on a trail, It most likely not for you,
    ~ ~ ~
I would love to go on a trip of all a bit later in the summer or when it starts to cool off,
BUT this time I would really like to explore this rarely visited trail as mostly only deer and the Jersey Devil traverse it.
    ~ ~
At this time I am planning on being at the
    Atsion lake office
    744 US, Rt 206
    Shamong Nj. 08088
at about 830am on Sat the 23rd of July,
    In the large rear lot,
I will be heading out of the lot at 9am.
I will be in Wharton State forest throughout most of the ride,
    ~ ~
    Please be advised,
You MUST use only a street registered vehicle in Wharton State forest and the Park Rangers may stop us to ensure that we have current registration,
If youre want to know more, PLease go here,
Wharton State Forest: A Quick Guide
Its not a big deal as I have been going there since the early 80s and never had an issue as I have always been resprectful, And yes I have seen the rager once take a trail only jeep off a group as it had no registration,
    ~ ~ ~
If you want to come along,
Bring WATER, Snacks and ways to use the woods as bears do,
There are no water fountians or facilities and there is no "Emergency" way back to the Office,
    Bugspray is advised,
    ~ ~ ~
Mostly is will be an easy slow ride going somewhere where most likely no-one has gone for decades.
    ~ ~
If youre planning on going PM me with your number and email address and I will ensure were all on the same page,
    ~ ~ ~
Sorry if I sound a bit harsh,
Ive been unable to ge there this year and really want to explore this one area.
    ~ ~
Thanks all and keep the rubber side down !

Pred/Peter, Saturday is the 22nd, that the day you are speaking of, right?
If so "I'm In". Meet you in the far part of the field as where we parked last September.

Hmmm, maybe not. 1000 acre forest fire that they say is partially contained as of this morning but the entire park is close to hikers and trail riders today.
In the first video you'll recognize the fire tower right by Basto Village and the carnage the fire has taken in the area we ride in.
    Call you later today.

I'm just going to work on another bike that has a project I've been procrastinating. Oh well.
