Little ride in Australia.

Yo, dub-steppers.

A quick RR on a 4 day trip I took, over last weekend, on the little T’dub’ (TW200).

Took off from home (Wodonga, VIC area to Sofala, NSW and return).

You should come along…..

Across the Hume on the punt was my first stop. Rain had already began, but as soon I stopped, it copied me.

Boat was rocking a little, there had been amazing winds over the last few days. Fortunately, it was coming from the west, and I was heading north-east.

River Road is an easy ride with a great view.

Weather was again a PITA, sometimes rainy and always windy.

I got to Jinjellic and a log-truck driver called me the coldest man in NSW. He may well have been right; it was icy.

I got to Tumbarumba, and got a coffee mainly to hold onto the cup!

It was raining good and proper now.

Even had some hail.

Every now and again, the weather would turn nice, but it never lasted long.

Next day, after a late start, I had written in my diary when I got in ‘almost max beers’, whatever that means.

Anyway, saw the most awesome thing; look at this!

All full game of cricket in the middle of nowhere!

Umpire….

Fielders chatting……

Guy on the truck…..

Dog and biker watching…..

Benchwarmers…

Even a baby!

You don’t see that shit on the highway.

I keep going.

Nice roads.

I then saw what I believe to be an old mine. You could get right up to it.

I have no idea when it was from, as there were no signs.

This is a particularly dangerous stretch of road, all sorts of monsters.

I survived…..just.

I got to Bathurst, for the short tar run into Sofala.

Camped at the local park, it was $100 for accommodation as the pub was full.

Was actually a really nice spot.

A few beers and yarn with those who turned up to the ‘meet’.

I was still tired from the previous night’s session, so bowed out early.

Left early the next day. The wind had calmed, which was a relief. I wouldn’t like to know my top speed with a good headwind.

That day, I was meeting friends for lunch in Frogmore.

I tried to take a ‘short-cut’ through a dirt road and wound up a little lost.

I ran into a lake. Literally. The road on the opposite ran into the lake. I could skirt the outside.

Looking for a way around the lake, I went up a track, and almost got stuck.

Pictures always struggle to show how steep hills are, but I tells ya, it was.

I headed back towards Wee Jasper.

And wound up having a few beers in the evening. Bar lady there is a loony.

Up early, lots of critters running across the road.

Though a stunning day.

There’s a roo near that sign.

Pointing out my well-endowed tyre.

Looks to be a great adventure Rob, where's your usual riding partner? I still have memories of dealing with wind and rain day after day when on the road. Guess in your part of the world as we move towards Winter, you get to dry-off. So when we are shoveling snow, we can count on you to provide us with 'ride reports'.

Like your rear tire. Did you also extend your swing-arm? Kind of looks like you may have. Great pictures of some real pretty country. Thanks, and stay in touch. Gerry

Hi Jerry. Usual partner is a teacher, so she can't choose her holidays!

But in two weeks, she's off on a 2000 mile ride across Australia on the Super Sherpa!

Swing arm is still the standard one. I'm not handy enough to extend it!

My Internet has run-out for the month so I can't finish it for a few days....

Great pics! Looks like that gnarly rear tire and elephant ears for your hands were needed for that adventure. Fun reading your Aussie words and terms. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

year round cricket? i thought that's how long one game lasts....

thanks for the ride!

Awesome! I'm convinced Australia is the greatest country in the world for dual-sport opportunities. I'm definitely going there on vacation some day to do some quality dirt bike camping!

Amazing ride report as usual. I just love the scenery and makes for some great riding I'm sure. Thought the Cricket Match and accompanying figures are too funny. Someone has a great imagination. TW looks at home on this trip. Thanks for sharing.

Do they have "wombat crossing" signs in wombat... habitat? I want one.

I just like sayin' "wombat".

As I kept going, I continued to get better views of the snow.

More backroads heading home – holy-ghost it was a nice day.

Check out the views!

I then started having a go at taking pictures with my left hand while I rode along. These are the best of many.

For the locals, I was on the eastern side of River Road, east of Jingellic.

Then, I was almost home. Took mainly tar for the final 150ks.

That’s all folks.

Information you probably don’t care about:

Trip was cheap, and awesome (If I didn’t drink, cost less than $250).

Jeez, spring is a brilliant time for looking around.

Bike needed nothing adjusted or any maintenance. Left tyre pressures the same, didn’t even lube the chain or anything. I think it was about 1300k total.

Despite being fortunate enough to have a few days off, I want more.
