    NMBDR 2nd Time Around

I'll try to update this on ride, but i make no promises.
Pics yes, no videos till home.

    day 1:

Told google maps to keep me off highways, worked so-so.
Something like just over 800 miles from home to antonito.

Road 350 miles to Childress, tx.. Have another 500 or so to get to antonito.
    Thats fine.

Not riding solo, but am going against the traffic north to south.
This other rider from advrider, dont know what he is on.
He did say he wanted to do some geocaching, which tells me he is not in the much of a hurry to just go balls to the walls.
Myself, i do like to stop and smell the roses and have done some geocaching before off of my DR. Lot of trouble though.
I say a lot of trouble, it was mostly because of having to carry paper work so you could punch it.
This was for the Tx State Park sticker about number found.

Have 500 miles to go to Antonito.
Wind bad, bad. I never got over 55. Don't expect it to be any better today.

Like i said, i'll try to post on the trail.

If a bike is plated, it's suppose to be ridden, not hauled on a trailer.

Enjoy. Are you on the TW? You probably passed near me if you took US 82 west from home. I'm headed for western OK tomorrow but will be trailering the TW.

Not too sure about the new owners of Narrow Gauge Railroad, got there last night about 9:30.

One couple with reservations had been waiting an hour for someone to show up.
I finally gave and went to back north fopr 23 miles.

Whats bad is this is the only place to really stay at when starting/finishing NMBDR.
The other place there from what I have seen is an inside hotel and place to secure ur bike.

OH and who was it here that said it was just cool?

    bull...
La Vida Pass - 9300 feet. freaking freezing and on top of that 35 top 40 head wind.
the bike up and over up, but real slow going.

Base gasket leaking is usually no big deal. Running low on oil is. You may need to snug up the head bolts to possibly slow it down some and watch that oil level. Mine leaked from about 1994 until 2016 when I finally changed it. I think the newer gasket design is much better and sealed it up. I figured it was like a Harley, it didn't leak oil it marked its territory.

the thing is that it was down a tad about 300 miles ago.
put not even 1/2 pint to bring up.
did that because weather being hot. every little bit helps with cooling.

Check it this morning after 300 miles and none in glass.

that little bit I had put in there was after riding for over 1k miles after last change.

    At Antonito.

Narrow Gauge Railroad Inn is changing Management.
The just fired (Sat) the ones they had for just two weeks. Good!

The new ones coming on board are suppose to follow the same guidelines as the ones previous to the last ones.

Ought put up thread for NMBDR Tips.
Really that should go on advrider

    Anyway, look what I found

    old cattle car
    Attachment 175369
