Finally got a decent ride yesterday....

After going over and changing out the usual's on a used purchase.....finally got out for a little ride yesterday. Did around 115+/- miles. Felt good!!

All street (BOOO!!, I know right!), but I ventured away from home, so didn't have much time to get off-road. Hopefully this weekend!

One of these days I'll post some pics.

Any ride on a bike is a good ride....if you and the bike come back in one piece!

    ...or a really good story!

Got in my typical ~100 miles today, but did not start until about noon.
Muggy for southern Nevada, but really nice at 8,000 feet.
Enough cloud cover for a hike in the Pinion Pines

What did I miss, or are you going to leave us in suspense?

I was happy to get in a ride today, as we have a severe thunderstorm watch tonight, with a potential for destructive winds.

It wasn't a TW ride so I didn't want to impose. But since you asked

I got to ride with some pro's, the guy leading us three was one of the best riders I've ridden with. Great endurance, tactical in his lines, smooth as glass and fast like mercury. He was on a KTM 450 motorcross bike, the other guy was on a Husqvarna 450 motocross bike, both were off-hwy models. Actually both were pure motocross race bikes "plated". We hit all the good stuff, single track, fast gravel, the deepest sand, whoops that were near 3' deep. Close to 100 miles of that and about 5 1/2 hours riding hard. I learned a lot from those guys and was riding at my limit most if the time. You don't learn unless you ride with better riders and for sure the guy leading us was. Here's the kicker, he was 64 and the fastest rider I've ridden with since my open class motocross days. The other guy was 52, me 53. I dare say there are not a lot of people I've ridden with that would not have pulled off the trail, if not just out of fear of getting hurt. Lately it seems the older the rider the better they are.

We were riding probably some of the most advanced bikes there are today. As much as I love my TW and riding that, each bike fits a certain style of riding and I enjoy both.

    Oh, yea. Old guys rock!

Heres what we were riding, lead guy was the KTM, I was on the 701 in the back of the pic.

I am not getting faster, as I am getting older.
I went to Death Valley recently with a friend on an 883 Sportster.
He is younger (in his sixties) and left me in the corners.

The road was slick in appearance and I exercised caution.

However, I made up for it on the straightaways. The 6 speed CB1100 will do 105 MPH in third.
    This was an earlier ride:

What a nice looking road in your pic. All your riding posts are inspiring. Thanks for sharing!

Yea, truth be told when we stopped for lunch we ran into another group who explained how their friend just died in a head on with a semi in a turn in WV. Sad story. It made me think that when I'm out riding I'm just not risking my health well being but that if my families. Everyone needs to think...

Been a long time since I was in WV, but I do remember if the sign suggested slow to 15, it really meant 15!

In the southwest, generally slow to 40 means that 60 is comfortable and 70 is pushing it.

When I lived in SoCal, I very much liked highway 33 north from Ojai.
During the week, sand/gravel haulers used the road, both lanes, regardless of double lines.
