    Admiral's Tales from the Trails

    Short Trailer Video

Got lots of trail video but it will take a while before I get a chance to edit/post it. I settled on making a short trailer video since I saw several signs of "The Bear" while out an about on a ride yesterday. At one point I took a break and heard a loud crunching noise in the bushes. I started yelling "get outta here" but the noise continued to get closer. Figured it wasn't a deer or elk at that point or they would have skedaddled by that point so I settled on it being a bear with all the sign I saw on the trail and what not!

Hidden Content A ride in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact I'm dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant?

    Stay safe Amigo!
Bears are a bit active this time of year fattening up on whatever they can find. Fresh ripped up logs are not uncommon. Lately someone has been using a couple of my up-ended rail road ties as scratching posts/ territorial markers. I'll post a picture of one that is a good 6 inches shorter than a while back and liberally decorated with bear fur. Shredded creosote rich rail road tie pieces litter the ground.

The bears are putting stumps across the trail for a reason. As big as they are their legs are short so by getting you to stop they can check out the Dub to see if it would be a fit.

I was riding a singletrack in a light rain last year and came across a ripped up flipped over log next to dry ground where it had been likely minutes ago...I surmised my approaching engine noises had just interrupted a bear's foraging for grubs. Usually we get few clues as to the critters out there who see and hear us as we go merrily by.

Course, I've been known to pack heat so you never know for sure.

Do you have a gatling gun type device to propel the hammers at the attacker? I see you have 6 so it would be a six shooter.

Bears don't bother with TW's. Dump that XT, it's a TW forum after all, LOL.

I had a 1983 XT-550, great bike, paid $1500 new OTD for it in 1989, sorry I sold it years ago to finance a $2000 Santa Cruz Super-Lite MTB in 1999 and a 1st year DRZ-400S...
