    Las Cienegas Loop

Yesterday I saddled up the TW to see if some faint squiggly lines on my map really made sense on the ground.

I've passed the entrance to Las Cienegas National Conservation Area off of AZ 83 many times, but I've never taken the time to go poke around in there before.

I made a loop from the entrance at Empire Ranch rd up to where it turns into Hilton Ranch rd at Cienega creek behind the Empire mountains, and followed Hilton Ranch rd back to AZ 83. Even though my maps were poor my luck was good and the route panned out.

I didn't stop for many pictures, but here are a couple.

    Just inside the gate:

In the lush riparian corridor of Cienega creek, a mere 50 mile ride from my desert home in Tucson!

I did have my GoPro running most of the time however, and I used GoPro Studio to stitch together the more interesting sections into this rather thorough video summary of my route.

I passed more side roads and turnoffs than I could count along my way, so the area certainly warrants more visits in the future.

I'm jealous, that looks like a fantastic place to ride.
Only a fool would attempt it, and God help me, I am that fool!

Looks like a great place to ride. I need places like that where there are very few obstacles to run into.

    Nice desert ride!
Hidden Content A ride in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact I'm dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant?

Tha's a beeg area! Reminds me of the strip, but possibly a little more remote. Did you have cell coverage out there? I'm glad to see you putting the GoPro to good use. I enjoyed the video, every bit of it. If I can't come and ride with you this has to be the next best thing. Thanks for the report and video, I enjoyed them.
    My handle is B-dub, I ride a T-dub, and drive a V-dub.

I have yet to visit the strip, but it's on my list! Remarkably, when I stopped at Cienega creek I checked my phone and saw that I had 3G data coverage way out there. Empire Ranch is a working ranch with its own airstrip and everything though, so maybe they have their own tower too?
