A friend and I and our kiddos went to Sycamore Creek just outside of Phoenix. Wide open.
My daughter's (7) first day on a bike/quad...she rode double on a quad with her bestie. She was a trooper from the first moment.
It was my son's first time in an open areaon hs XR50. 1st ride he fell over 10+ times...(lots of soft sand). He was bummed, intimidated and scared). But the 3rd and final ride he rode the 8 mile trail flawless and pulled off several near falls. For some reason the soft sand loves to use it's gravitational pull for anyone and every beginner. He learned to start, shift up and down shift on his last right. Even cruising between 25-30 mph most of the time. Very proud dad.
Of course, me and the TDub were just spectators/followers/flag-men making sure everyone stayed on both wheels (or all 4--for the daughters on the quads).
A great day with burgers, hot dogs, great friends and no injuries...just timeless memories from here forward.
Only a fool would attempt it, and God help me, I am that fool!
I really like that AZ landscape; it is really different from NC!
This is exactly what we do with our kids. It is amazing how fast they acclimate to riding and at 16 and 11, our boys are doing great at OHVs and single track spots. The missus rides the T-Dub and run sweeper position on the KLX250s.
It doesn't get any better than this! They are lifetime memories! I have always said, you better help your children build a lot of those memories, or they will build some of their own, and you won't be part of them and you probably won't like the memories they build.
Good job Joe.
those are awesome pics and memories forever! many more to come i'm sure.

Thanks Joe, I plan on it. I have to fight myself from spending $ I don't have on a helmet for my daughter. They are only $33 for a new helmet. Great deals. But bills come first.
For now, friends, doubles and good times.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Cute stuff! I remember my kids on the PW80. As adults now, I do get a chance to ride with a couple of my son's here and there. Oh, and now they stop and wait for me to catch up!
Unless it's me, the video is set to private and I can't view it.
Hidden Content A ride in the woods helps me relax and release tension. The fact I'm dragging a body should be entirely irrelevant?
Try it again. I had set the video as "Private" on youtube and I hadn't realized that was labeled as private here in the forum. It should work now. Let me know it if doesn't.
