I lost my key last week and would like to get one just like it with the black yamaha head. I still have my spare so getting it cut is not an issue. I'm not worried about how much it costs, I just don't want to be reminded that I finally lost a key! Do the numbers on it mean anything or is the first letter all that matters. Any suggestions?

I found this site that does keys by code but it is only available to dealers- http://www.yamahakeys.com/login.php?...696115d1a86577

This site is available to the public but I would really like to get a key with the exact same code on it. I know, but it really bugs the crap out of me. http://www.motorcyclekeys.com/blanks6.html

Real blanks and real keys are only available through Mr. Yamaha. Some folks have figured out work arounds and maybe your link will sell you an authentic key, but your safest to take your code to the dealer and buy one at his price. There are a couple of threads on the old forum with varying views. Good luck. Tom

    PSC,

I believe other members have found that the Axxess+ 37R key blank worked perfectly.

About 2 bucks at the local home improvement center.

Cptrout, You are undoubtedly correct, but I do know that not all years use the same blank key. So you must be certain to compare before assuming compatibility. Tom

My dealer said they cant get keys and I should go to a locksmith. I believe it's more like "won't". I'll give them another try on tuesday.

Ace hardware made one for me. Make sure you ride there so you can try it.

    It cost $2.00

Thanks rdm, but i am rather adamant about having an exact copy with the same code.

I spoke to the dealership again and was told they can order the precut key from yamaha by the code for $35.

Can't help you with the code--except maybe to get someone stamp his #s, but blanks TW keys have come up on ebay for 5$ each, OEM. I need one; am down to 1, and yet I never saw one with my end pattern. --GB (Formerly Greybeard)
