Anyone interested in a TTR225 engine for a TW 6-speed conversion?

This is not mine, but I did contact the seller and he said he would take $100 for it. I don't really need it but thought that someone else might be interested.

Maybe Fred, since it is in his neighborhood?

    Yamaha Engine - $250

    condition: fair
    make / manufacturer: Yamaha

The engine was given to me a while ago and I have no use for it. I'm not a motorcyclist, so I'm not sure what size it is...
Please see pictures and ask any questions.
    I do know it's a working engine.
    Thanks!

thats a crazy cheap bargain !

If anyone is considering the 6 speed swap here's a custom solution to not have to split the case and install a custom output shaft

below is the link to my classifieds post for this output shaft extension

I wonder if a ttr225 will fit in an XT200? As backup 'cause I don't really want to stop using a perfectly good XT200 engine.

Probably need the ttr wiring since this ttr was 12v and the XT is 6v.

AGman sent/posted some info long time back of just switching some wires on the XT to make it a 12v or part of it 12v. I should re-investigate.

Well, I ended up snagging that engine for $100.
The extra displacement seems to wake up the TW nicely, plus the sixth speed sure is fun to play with.
Here is a section from yesterday's ride with background music similar to what goes through my head when I ride solo. Good zooming but I never get into 6th.

Fred, if you change your mind and decide you dont need it put me first on the list to buy it from you.

You, Betty Boop and Dog Valley needed that. Fun romp for sure!

Only major downside of using a TTR motor rather than an XT donor motor is the inability to add a kick starter.
I rode back in the rain, then of course it got sunny once back home.
This was my first real ride since Moab and the rain ended up washing away all that pretty red souvenir Utah dust.

is the reason you can't add a kicker that the hole on the case for the kick axle is just a pilot hole ?

So I have been told. However didn't compare differences myself by pulling covers off both TW & TTR engines. This would have been the first step in swapping out the TW's kick starter assembly. I regrettably stopped after hearing the "No can do" news from another forum member a month or so ahead of me in the TTR engine swap process.

The best explanation is here: https://www.tw200forum.com/forum/per...225-cases.html

The outer case is an easy fix... the inner case, not so much (unless you want to do a full tear down).

I ran in to this issue as well, so now my TTR engine is destined for a friend's bike, and he's not worried about having a kick starter.

I've got an XT engine to build for my own bike.

It's been on hold for a while... I suppose I should get back to it!
